Part-Time Paratransit Operator
Department: Transportation
Reports To: Care-A-Van Director
Rate of Pay: $20.27
SUMMARY
The Paratransit Operator must, under general supervision, drive a Paratransit vehicle (commercial motor vehicle) with due regard to safety and comfort of passengers and to the maintenance of time schedules. He/she must also do other related work as required. This is a part-time position for night shifts and weekends.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Other duties may be assigned that are in keeping with the goals and objectives of CARTA.
- Operate a Paratransit vehicle to transport the elderly and persons with disabilities over specified routes and under varying traffic and weather conditions.
- Communicate with people in a professional and courteous manner.
- Assist passengers as needed and maintain established time schedules.
- Process daily paperwork and other miscellaneous duties.
- Assist passengers from door of pick up to the door of delivery. Frequent kneeling, bending, twisting and standing are required to assist both persons with disabilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Obtain a Commercial Driver License (minimum class B) with a Passenger endorsement.
- Ability to periodically pass the Department of Transportation physical examination conducted by the company physician.
- Maintain a valid Department of Transportation medical examination card.
- Ability to pass drug and alcohol tests, background checks and moving violation records checks.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
A bus operator must have a minimum education of a High School Diploma or GED. He/she must be at least 21 years old.
